Registration

Entries, qualifications & transfers

Registration is open to runners with appropriate prior experience and a valid pre-race medical certificate. This event is extreme-altitude—the race is intended for experienced long-distance and high-altitude runners only.

Register via the official website registration portal. The event has a capped field — check the registration page for current availability. Registration closes when slots are full or by published deadline.

Category changes are possible only within the published window and subject to medical approval and capacity. All requests must be submitted via the registration portal before the change-deadline.

Travel & Stay

Arrivals, transport & accommodation

Runners must arrive in Leh at least 2 days before Bib Distribution. Bib distribution is on 1 July 2026 and Race Day is 10 July 2026. Ideally plan for additional acclimatization days if possible.

Sarmang organises group convoy transport from Leh to Koyul on the published date. Personal travel to Koyul is not permitted due to permits and safety. All runners must travel with the official convoy.

We publish an official list of partner hotels in Leh, recommended homestays, and base camps near Koyul. Partner properties offer support for acclimatization and emergency oxygen availability.

Safety

Medical checks, AMS, evacuation

Yes — comprehensive medical support includes pre-race screening at bib distribution, medical checks at Koyul before race start, staffed medical stations on route, oxygen, ambulances and evacuation support.

Runners who do not meet safety thresholds will not be given a bib or allowed to start. The medical team's decision is final and non-negotiable — this is for your safety at extreme altitude.

Any runner showing AMS symptoms is immediately assessed. Mild cases are monitored and supported; severe symptoms result in mandatory evacuation to Koyul or Leh depending on severity.

Race Rules

Cut-offs, pacing, equipment

All aid stations have published cut-offs. Missing a cut-off results in mandatory removal from the course for safety. The Race Director and medical team may also alter cut-offs in extreme conditions.

No private crew or support vehicles are permitted on the course. Designated support zones and drop-bag locations are defined in the Race Guide.

For safety reasons, earphones that block ambient sound are not allowed while on the course. Bone-conduction devices used safely are at the runner’s risk and may be subject to discretion by marshals.

Environment Policies

Zero-waste, wildlife & cultural respect

All participants must carry out their waste. Any runner or crew found littering will be penalised and may be disqualified. We provide water refill points—use reusable bottles or hydration packs.

Observe from a distance. Do not feed or approach animals. Avoid loud noises and do not flash lights at animals at night. Respect local habitat and follow marshal directions in sensitive areas.

Refund / Deferral

Policy and deadlines

Due to logistical commitments, refunds are generally not available. Deferrals may be permitted within the published window with valid reason and supporting documentation—check the registration policy for details.

Deferrals are allowed under strict conditions and timelines. Submit a request through the registration portal before the deferral deadline and upload required documentation.

Crew / Support

Guidelines for crews & pacers

No personal crew or outside support vehicles are allowed on the course. Designated support points and drop-bag locations will be communicated in the Race Guide.

Pacing rules vary by category. For ultra categories, pacing may be allowed per the Race Guide—pacer must register and follow the same medical & permit protocols.

Baggage & Drop Bags

Drop-bag rules & logistics

Yes — drop-bag collection details are in the Race Guide. Typically one drop-bag per runner is provided for ultra categories. Submit your bag at Koyul during briefing.

Items such as warm layers, nutrition, spare socks, and simple medical items are appropriate. Do not pack valuables or fragile items. Label your bag clearly with name and bib number.
